Finally I broke out of a horrible slump on Monday nights.
Last week 874 and then this week came out and shot 234, 236, 257, 258. 985 series = 246 average. Something I am more accustomed to.
First two were shoot with Storm Gravity Shift.... same ball I used last week. I decided to break out my Secret Agent and looked further down the lane and moved my feet deeper. Finished with a couple of 250's. We bowled well as a team winning 24 of 30. I believe I have recaptured the anchor bowler position, after dropping 15 sticks in average in a matter of 5-6 weeks.
I am regaining the stroke and need to focus on rolling the ball... I bowl on a PBA tournament pattern tonight - Dennys World Championship pattern. I have found this pattern to play similar to the Scorpion pattern so I hope I bowl well. This past week in the PBA Experience league I started slow but caught fire the last game.... strung the first nine and shot 266. I was very happy with the game but not happy with execution of the 10th ball.
If I have another decent night in the PBA Experience I will really feel like I am making progress.
Things I need to remember for this week.
FOCUS ON ROLL
RELAX THUMB - FEEL THE BALL ON FINGERS AFTER PUSH AWAY
It was quite a night to say the least: So this is how our league works.
Each 3rd has a winner which qualifies them for the roll-off, and a wildcard is chosen by the team that doesnt win a third but has the most points. Pretty standard stuff. Now we have point money as well so that keeps the 3rd winners from totally slacking. Play-offs work like this Lead off position bowl against each other, 4 for the top score, 3 for the next, 2 for the next, and then 1, this applies to all positions. Now to get twisted a little more is a doubles matches for the games after the 1st game. The points are double for the doubles.
My boys! Dave, John and Kevin pulled it out tonight. It was very close. We took 8 pts the 1st game and then I get a little lost. I was focused on bowling. We bowled better the 2nd game and then had a little let down in the 3rd. We came through in the last game bowling good enough to win the championship by 1 .... yes 1 point.
My scores were pretty decent tonight, 235, 245, 249, and 254 for an 983. This was a good tune up for nationals as far as trying to stay focused.
Below are pictures we shot before league tonight. I was feeling good and so were they!
Well it seems I have been blessed with rolling lots of strikes the last few days.
On 4.15 I bowled with Jeff Britton, truly, the best bowler in the area at this point in time.
We started out a little slow with a 419 then 450s for the next 2 games, I was just a little over even and then shoot back to back 257s, with one game to go we were 324 over. I accounted for 130 of it and I was pretty happy with that except for a few blown spares. With one game to go we felt pretty good about our chances. Jeff opens the game with a double and I make a couple of spares. I decided to get a little softer and move feet a couple of boards left, and just trust the ball coming back. I finished the game strong with a 219, Jeff didnt carry a seven pin that could have gone easlily, finished with a 224. To our disbelief we miss by 3 pins. That was a bummer, I was counting on making a little bit of change before the CWO finals and PBA Regional coming up in Boise.
Now Monday night league! WoW I good night. Started with a little 227(using my Shift with gray scotch brite, light scrub) and made it through Break the Bank (BtB). Costs a buck and you have to strike in select frames, make the strikes in game 1, that is good for 5 bucks. Next game I switch to my X-Factor Reloaded (again gray scotch brite, light scrub) shoot 268 and make those strikes, good for 25 bucks. I get the next 2 required strikes and leave a 10 pin that I cover, so no pressure on a honor score. I get the 1st ball in the 10th, and then ring a 10 pin in the 11th. So I get 25 bucks and shoot another 268. My line is holding well and I move right to take advantage of the pushed down oil from the belly shooters. I get into a little trouble in the middle of the game and again move right, finishing with 200 even. So 943 for 4 games, 227,268,268,200. Not to bad of a night, the team bowled well we took 25 of 30.
Oh .. I am tired from bowling the CWO with Earl Swentik. We bowled good for 5 games and then we fell apart ... or should I say I fell apart, but that is another story! Back to Monday. I am using my Shift that I dulled up with a gray scotch brite pad. WoW... what a difference by knocking a little of the shine off and exposing some that particle load. 247,203 (open 10th), 223, 228 (opens in both of the 220 games) for a 901 series. Lets talk about spare shooting! Open in 10th .. I hate that more than leaving a 10 pin. Maybe it was a 10 pin in the 10th .. ;( grrrrrrr ... getting a little steamed thinking about it. Those low 200/220's easily could have been a bigger and a huge series. We took 21 out of 30 points. We have already won a third... so we have been staying competitive but not dominating the league. There are some very strong teams... when they all click. Most of the time only one or two members are firing on all cyclinders. 8)
Well... I need to move on. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS for the REGIONAL. We are on the VIPER pattern, not one of my better patterns to date, but I am looking to change that.
